Valve cover colour

Hi

As I have to change the head gasket and the valve cover looks a bit tired I thought it would be a good opportunity to get it refurbished. What is the best method?

The closest off the shelf colour I could find is Ford tectonic silver (metallic) I’m having some 1k, synthetic alkyd enamel specially mixed in that colour which I’ll apply over a 2k etch primer. Both the primer and topcoat are designed for high temperature engine use (~170 degrees).

I’ll publish some pictures and supplier details once I’m happy with the end result.

Here's the end result attached. I'm really pleased with the colour match although if I'm being mega critical it probably has slightly too much metallic flake. Paint details as follows:

HMG ST3000 chromate free 2k Etch primer, rated to 200 DegC, for priming aluminium
HMG C71 Speedline Tectonic Silver Gloss colour matched to 039284, rated to 170 DegC (use with 10% thinner HMG2611)

The Primer and activator is available from Bailey Paints; MOQ 1 Litre of each
The topcoat and thinner is available from HMG coatings (south) Ltd; MOQ 1 Litre of each
