Vacuum Hose question - is this connected correctly?

Still working on our engine top end re-assembly but have a question we need help with for the vacuum pipe connections

In this image below, the circle pipe we've connected goes down under the inlet manifold to what I believe is the EECS solenoid valve. Is this correct? We have the connections to the EGR control valve sorted connected correctly. Thanks in advance - been scratching our heads for hours!

Yes, that vacuum point goes to a solenoid that connects to the EECS (Charcoal canister), I think this is only used with cars fitted with catalysts, so S2 and USA cars, I dont think this is used nor fitted on UK SE cars, so I guess that port it just plugged closed (need an SE owner to confirm). Picture attached of my S2 showing the solenoid and the manual page showing the connections.

There isn't a second blue m/plug but there is a space in the bracket hardware where yours would be.

Thanks Chris, does this mean that the right hand vacuum outlet from the manifold is capped and not used on the SE ?

Although it looks a bit like it, I don't think it can be an open tube. I think it's capped off internally?
The left vacuum outlet tube has a thin rubber hose attached. You can't easily see it on this pic but it's there...

when i saw the picture my first thought was that should be plugged. but if you have no running issues. your probably right that is internally plugged.. even tho that seems rathe unlikely. :roll:

Thanks for the help so far - so now realise this is plugged in wrong place. Can see now this pipe is the vacuum feed to secondary throttle reservoir under the inlet manifold.

So any ideas where this this vacuum feed pipe plugs into (presumably to provide the vacuum for the secondary throttle actuator) - can't see any obvious connection points in reach of the pipe?

The 2ndary throttle feed comes from the lower of 3 ports at the back of the manifold near the throttle body then plumbs down and connects to the cylindrical vacuum reservoir C (very hard to reach!), see below:

(Tried pulling off the EECS hose on the S2 just to see what happens, found at idle there is very little vacuum at all being pulled and had no effect on engine idle, increasing throttle starts to pull a vacuum but since the engine is now reving I guess the increased air entering the manifold is fairly insignificant and monitored so has no effect on engine running. Guess this is because the vacuum pick off is right at the throttle flap and not like other vacuum points that are further into the manifold where a leak will be un-monitored and will affect the air/fuel causing a rev increase)

i dont mean to go off on a tangent. but anyways..

Ken. do you know where is the vacum pipe next to the air temperature sensor meant to connect ? i think i have it blanked in both my SE and NA. wondering if its meant to, or which cars get it ?

Fantastic - thank you so much for this information. Looks like a reasonable chance we'll get the car finally fired up again in the next 2 weeks (we only have Saturdays available to work on the car, hence why it's taking so long!)

Hi Tuga, the vacuum port next to the MAT sensor is for purging the charcoal canister of the EECS which is only used on cars with catalysts, so applicable to UK S2s and US cars.

Thanks - Always a nerve wracking time after a full top-end & turbo rebuild (will get round to do write up in the projects section at some point!).
