I think you need the Gates T169 or Dayco 95169. The Gates belt you quote appears to come from a V6 Toyota Supra, amongst others.

Look at Rock Auto here

This is by far the best place to buy the timing belt. Get water pump and tensioner while you're at it. See the kit on same page Dayco 95169 K1S.

It's a big awkward job, I've done it twice, but not impossible. But if the belt hasn't been changed for 5 years or more, or you don't know when, it's an essential must-do job, likewise the pump and tensioner at the same time.

For pretty much the price of the ebay belt (£50?) you can get the whole kit from Rockauto. No affiliation etc etc but a lot of us on here have used them and shipping is normally pretty quick, but currently????

Good luck with this and your other jobs.

This is an image of what I bought last time (and, in fact, probably the last 6 times!)........

You won't necessarily want/need the cam cover gasket - but I didn't have one in stock so bought it to keep in ..... the altenator belt has a number of alternatives which are easily available in the UK, so you may or may not want one..... PAS belt likewise - and you'll need a longer one anyway if you have AirCon..... but I got the lot in one hit to save a bit of buggering around, and it cost me no more than buying the odd part locally.

I'd say that anyone who changes the steering rack is more than capable of doing the timing belt...... the pain comes in different places, but the challenge is similar due to lack of space - but it isn't a hard job.

Don't tempt me  - For some reason every time i get another M100 the last A**h*le who changed the filter decided to over tighten it. This one literally had to come apart in pieces after breaking two strap type tools and a screwdriver through it couldn't budge it. Four hours to remove a F*#%^!g oil filter! I had the timing belt off in that time :banghead: (see timing belt thread)

Ordered a belt from sj so i know its correct
For reference its a dayco 94197
Ille fit it over the next bank holiday
I changed the oil filter last weekend ,wasnt too bad but it was on a 2 post ramp
Did it from underneath and took it through the o/s into the wheel area
I used mobile 10/50 oil but to me the tappets sound a little noisier, ime tempted to go 5/30 or 5/40
Any thoughts - it was perfectly quiet until the change
I have no idea what was in it as i recently bought it
It was nice and clean but smelt of fuel as it hardly been used

Have you fitted your new cambelt kit plus associated belts yet Dave ?

Its just that I ordered the same parts as you from Rockauto and the Bando 6PK 965 (PAS without air con) appears not to fit :? When I checked in the Wiki it infers the correct belt is the Bando 6PK 945 (or reading a note added by El Geoffos in March this year the commonly available 6PK 948 is a good fit)

Just a warning that if you haven't fitted it yet, or to anyone else reading this, the Bando 6PK 965 is the incorrect belt so you may need one of the aforementioned alternatives to hand

Rambo, interested to know if the Idler pulley you received was polished or unpolished? I just received another kit from Rock auto and for the second time the idler pulley is not polished while the tensioner pulley is?

I bought my Dayco kit from Rockauto at Easter also - as your photo shows, my idler is not polished, but the tensioner is.

Sorry esprit, my other cambelt kit is in my NMY which is at the garage awaiting parts so no chance of checking polished vs unpolished

I think i already know the answer :-D It appears as though all of the idlers available now from Rock auto are the non-polished variety. I have no idea if that will negatively affect how long the belt will last, I'm not going to risk it but mine are all low milers anyway. So if anyone is looking for just an Idler that is not polished then I have two spares :D
