Snetterton is not far from Hethel & my Elan seems to like going back to its birthplace too. :D

I wonder if Lotus fitted a homing chip?

Hi all,

Newbie question. Would the closed loop system bring down the emission levels to ULEZ standards?

I'm hoping to buy an Elan S2 but as I live in London non Ulez compliant cars attract a £12.50 daily charge. Exceptions are possible if you can evidence a low emission, NOx output needing to emit less than 0.08g/km of NOx (Euro 4 or equivalent). While CO2 outputs are important, they have no impact on whether a car will be ULEZ compliant or not.

Any advice, suggestions or comments are much appreciated.

Thanks
Mperx

I have no idea of the NOx emission change with or without the O2 sensor and appropriate ECU map - but if you are after an S2, they all come 'closed loop' anyway, so there is no "conversion" to do with it.

My understanding of the ULEZ requirements are also 'vague' to say the least - all I know is that if I ever drive into London (unlikely!), I only have a choice of 1 car from the household to take!!!! (and it isn't the Lotus).

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?
