I take it the gearbox will be the original lotus one ?
With the higher lift of engine will it fit ?
The original TX4 E1 ( or is it TX4 F1) gearbox from the isuzu had some re casting to make it fit .

Also the idea of moving the car with the CEL light on "might" restrict you to 3000 revs .

just thinking out loud .

I will be using the original Elan transmission. Personally, I think it's going to fit, but I can't say for sure until I try. I've taken apart both a 4XE1 and a 4XF1 from Geo Storms and the block of the F1 is an inch taller, but they also made the valve cover shallower and made the intake plenum much more compact, locating the opening of the throttle body at the same relative location in the engine well of Storms. The net increase in height was only about half an inch as a result. The transmissions in the Storms also interchange without any problems, the bell housings all use the same bolt patterns to the engine. I'm assuming based on this, it *should* fit in there.

One way or another, I'll find out and post about it when I get there.

As for driving it with a CEL, really I only cared about it being able to drive on and off a car dolly so I could tow it, but at the end I never had the time to get it figured out before moving, so we brute forced the car on and off the dolly.
