Ah, right, that makes it more difficult, should have opened my eyes a bit! But, the same technique helps but to a lesser degree, the thing to do is keep heating the bolt then cooling by spraying water on it from a hose pipe...My dad says you have to do this 10 or so times and watch for heating any bushes or seals up too much in the process. Then heat\ cool itit and use an impacting and turning force at the same time, i.e as mentioned before...hitting it!!! again being carefull not to damage other things eg, bearings and cast iron metal etc!!!
Hitting the bolt head at right angles to the bolt all the way round whilst heating and cooling it first is a good idea!!!! damaging the head as little as possible.
If the thread is into a different type of metal i.e steel to cast iron etc, then that's even better as they expand at dramaticaly differing rates.
Patience it the virtue here........and as mentioned....make a really good tool to hold it all still
Oh, it sounds daft... but putting some force in the other direction..clockwise... will all help to break the join!
My dad (a mechanical engineer in the textile and motor industry all his life) says he will "Have a go at it" as he put it ...in Dad speak that means he will get it undone as I have never known him not get a bolt undone in my entire life!! but you will have to bring the car to him in manchester...s he is an old bloke now!!- Oh he said that the bolt will be Knackered though in the process!!
