Hello Everyone =)
I am currently replacing my cambelt. It is not very easy to access the bolts and stuff but still we managed to do a few steps today afternoon ^^
What I wonder is how the PAS belt and the alternator belt tensions should be checked!? I have read the workshop manual where it is written that their tensions are respectively 65+-7kg(145+-15lb) and 41+-9kg (90+-20lb) but I don't have a gauge to test that, so what should I do? Buy a gauge?
Thank you in advance for your help

PS: I managed to remove the alternator belt but I must say that the alternator doesn't move a lot even after slakening its bolts ... I am afraid it will be hard to tension properly the alternator belt ...

When I tightened the alternator belt on my car I just used the "finger test" - With it tensioned, press the belt with your finger with moderate force and it shouldn't move more than about 1cm. If it moves more, then you should tension it a bit more, and if it moves less or is very difficult to move then you need a bit less tension. If the tension is too high then you could wreck a bearing or snap the belt, if it's too low then you'll hear it squealing, so it's always better to be looser than tighter.
Or so I think...!
