Oil Pan Gasket

Postby texaselite » Wed 26.09.2012, 16:41

Mechanic says :
The oil pan gasket is leaky, and it looks like the front subframe will have to be removed to change it.

Will this part work?

Looks like it will fit though I've never known the 4XE1 motor to have an oil pan gasket. Always just seen them with a lot of liquid gasket like permatex

Hmmm..maybe mechanic (not Lotus specialist - mine is only one he has seen) assumed there was a gasket in place.

There used to ba a tool available from Lotus called a "bead cutter for oil pan". I believe the pans are all glued on with an RTV or urethane sealer.
