Air Filter Box

Postby Motocompo » Tue 21.05.2019, 17:30

Dears,

I´m new here and this is my first question. :)

I have an Elan S2 and I want to replace my air filter box. I bought a new one
in France which looks really good.

Unfortunately I was not able to reach all 5 screws but I found that the whole filter element is mounted
with 3 screws to the frame, so it would be easy to remove.

But I am not sure what happens if I loosen these screews...perhaps they would fall into the frame?

Has anyone done this before and could give me a hint?

Thanks a lot to you all.

Hi Moto welcome to the forum,

The 3 screws wont fall into the frame but they are quite tricky to get to. I had the wheel arch liner removed for better access from underneath when removing the airbox when changing the clutch on mine.

Removing the arch liner only took minutes however that is because I had already been through the pain of removing the old rusted fixings and replaced with new shiny stainless steel bolts. Unless the previous owner has already done this for you this may be the first proper 'Lotus' job you will have to carry out :D

OK thanks for your help.

So I can remove the 3 bolts, put out the whole thing including the air filter box and then fix it back without any worries...

no bolts will be "lost" in the frame.
