coolant pipe

Hi All

I have just been trying to get my Elan back on the road and today i noticed a coolant leak

The leak is coming from the alloy joining pipe which connects the Y pipe near the aux water pump to the pipe that runs down the side of the ending block.

It looks like I can just replace the pipe with a piece of 15mm copper pipe. I assume this would be OK as radiators are copper cored?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Any relevant comments from those more experienced appreciated
