Pair of clamp head bolts

Good morning gentlemen.
I had to change the head gasket, but I cant find the correct menagerie values. A friend told me that it's 4kgm the first step and 8kgm the second. But according to my mechanic they are too low. Does anyone who has done this job know or remembers the correct values?

Yep and since 1kg = 10N (as near as dammit, and so 1kgm of torque = I0Nm of torque) reckon you're spot on ermete.
Here's hoping someone who's actually done that job will verify...

For those who are older and from the other side of the world, the torque specs are

Step 1 29 ft. lbs.
Step 2 58 ft. lbs

I would expect them to work, being so new....... mine dates from 1972, and has been regularly checked/calibrated over the years in a friends ownership before I inherited it to complement my "new" one from 1991. Both were last checked about 3 years ago and were still spot on.....

.... I have a selection of 'cheap' ones collected over the years, and only one (a Draper Expert) has ever been worryingly inaccurate, so it went in the bin.

They are okay for most jobs, but when it comes to engine work I like to open the red box and feel the quality.
