Can the engine be installed from underneath the car?

I've rebuilt the complete engine and have a 4 post lift so wondering if anyone has successfully tried to install the engine from underneath the car? If yes how successful was the installation? thanks for any help I can get.

There was a TV programme a couple of years ago where teams of "mechanics" had to race to put together dismantled cars - One episode had an M100 and IIRC they installed the engine from below. They had a 2-post lift so it was more like dropping the body onto the engine & transmission.
Can't remember what the programme was called or which channel it was on.
