ElanScan cable - leave it connected?

Is it OK to leave the ElanScan cable (USB) connected to the ALDL when not using the computer or must one assume the "Lotus position" and disconnect it after each use?

I've designed it so nothing should be ON on the car side of the optos when the interface is not being driven. When you turn off the ignition, the 12V line is still present, but there should be no current demand. I haven't measured supply current but believe it will be insignificant - I've had one connected up for several days with no problem.

Thanks, Geoff. I'm having a bit of trouble getting it to talk. I installed the drivers, then plugged the cable into my laptop and it immediately found the USB Serial interface. Now all I need is a car adapter (or functional battery) for the old laptop I'm using. Can't drive very far with an extension cord on the laptop mains adapter. Thanks, Geoff, for creating this great toolset.

Doug, I only supplied your hardware. It was Alan (ESM) who developed the ElanScan program many moons ago.
