I finally found my cable today and would like to give it a go

Everey selfrespectable (intel) mac nowadays can run windows perfectly with bootcamp!
Or do as i did: Buy a second hand Pentium III laptop for 10,- Works like a charm even with PCMCIA USB support.

Thats true but with windows you get viruses

Viruses are overrated
Your MAC OS is not vunarable for PC virusses anyway.
If you install XP and never use it on the internet / network, cheances for infection are 0
