Elanscan frustration!

As some of you will know at Hethel last year I had a problem with my ECU.
At the time we couldn't get ElanScan to work, I thought it was all down to the ECU.
However now I have a different ECU but still no ElanScan ?
I have tried my lead on other cars and it's fine, but have also tried different leads laptops on mine.
I have also carried out a continuity check of all the wires going to the Al dl plug.
12V across pins F and A, checked pins G (orange and yellow) and pin B (white and black) which go to the ECU A8 & A9 which was good.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Does it go into service mode when you short out pins A & B?
Is there ~5V on pin G wrt pin A when you turn the ignition on?
Is there ~5V on pin B wrt pin A when you turn the ignition on?

Can your lead+computer log another car without any problem?
(it's a bit unclear for me if you just tried your lead on another car, but with another computer)

Maybe you could try to send a few commands manually with a serial terminal to check if the ECU answers anything ...?

As you noticed at Hethel, I have 'all the gear, no idea' when it comes to elanscan - it works for me, so I don't need to understand the reasons why, so can't help.....

.....except.....

.... I am happy to post either my elanscan cable or the bluetooth adapter to you prior to CC to see if you can get any of them to work with your computer/android phone.

Failing that, I will take them with me to CC, along with my laptop - but it would need someone (Geoff/Ripo ) who understands the 'workings' to see if they can get your car to talk to anything.

Just an update,
Tried Geoff's son's gizmo at CC and it didn't work on my car but did on others.
Just changed my ECU and it is now working
I just need to learn how to use and understand it, but then I've only had my car 12 years

I'm getting used to using the Elan scan (although very green).
I noticed that my boost was a bit low (not going past .5 on the gauge ) and the Elan scan confirmed it.
Used the Wiki and found help with "boost leak" and I tried the bike tube trick, I then found a leak
under the throttle body, there is a "L" shaped pipe on it's own with no hose available that possibly would have come off.
Maybe it was capped and that came off ?

When doing the bike tube trick, would you expect the system to hold pressure ?

I also changed the hose to the boost gauge transducer as this looked like it was well over due.
I then went for another drive and the boost went up to .8 with 60 percent throttle (this is with a 1499 mountain chip).

If I were you I would disconnect the battery so the ECU will not use an outdated correction term it made when it leaked (otherwise it might have a tendency to overboost temporarily?)

Anyway, I suspect you will be very happy with the extra power, and the turbo will not turn too fast any more, which is very nice!

It's strange how I had this L shaped tube tucked away that was uncovered ?
Maybe it was capped and it just fell apart with age ?
I forgot to mention that when I started it, it used to over rev which also pointed me towards the leak.

Hi Ian, as far I'm concerned your ECU works perfectly fine, Elan scan did work on my original and then it didn't, I don't think it would be fair to say it's conclusively linked to the ECU,it could just be the plug.
I didn't buy the new ECU because I though there was a problem with yours, it was a group buy that was well worth doing at the time.
