Using elanscan question

Is the program meant to get data if the engine is not running but the key is on? It seems it only works with the engine running. Is this correct or have I missed something? What is the bst refresh rate to use?

You should get comms when you turn the ignition on (you can sometimes see the error log change) but if nothing is happening the screen can appear frozen. Pressing the throttle is a good way of seeing if you are communicating (if your TPS is OK) otherwise turn on the lights and see if the battery voltage drops.
200ms is a good acquisition period. You can go to 100ms if you're looking for transients but there tends to be more errors. I usually go for a 1000ms update period.
