ElanScan base data standard vs. Mountain 4.5

Postby LeedsMike » Sun 29.01.2023, 10:07

So…. a few quid spent on eBay and a bit of soldering later, I have a fully functioning feed to the laptop software.

Thanks to - https://youtu.be/ZVsLD1eJP7Y (I’m not sure who you are but your videos are amazing!)

I’m lucky enough to have managed to track down an s2 ECU (1499 AXMZ) with a Mountain 4.5 chip from a breaker. It is all sealed up so I will void the breaker warranty if I look inside. They did provide pictures of the inside as part of the sale however.

My question - what would you all recommend as a set of “quality validation steps” to test this new ECU? Should I also see differences at idle too?

I’m much more interested to start with, to look at the ElanScan data rather than a simple road feel test.

Thanks!

Mike, do you know if it's a Kilimanjaro or an Everest chip?

The difference between the Mountain chips and standard ones is in how the ECU reacts to throttle inputs, the RPM at which the turbo boost starts, the boost curve through the rev range and the maximum boost allowed, later versions also have have fuelling changes. As far as I know there's no change at idle.

Also - if you're running an Elanscan session remember that the ECU won't allow the turbo to boost until the coolant temperature is over 50 Deg C.

Thanks RonR.

It’s an Everest setup.
