Can anybody tell me where these wires should attach to ?! I thought it should be obvious but it's really not.
Think this is one of the original cables somebody made - if anybody has one can you please take a photo of it ?

Unfortunately in your photo the wire attachment points are hidden behind the LED, but looking at the circuit board I'm pretty sure that the Red arrow points to 12 Volt connection and the Purple arrow points to the Data connection.

Plug the cable into the ALDL socket (making sure the loose wires don't touch) and turn the ignition on, then if you test the 2 broken wires with a voltmeter between each and the black wire (GND), the one which shows 12V should go to the RED arrow and the other to the Purple arrow.

Ah yes - think you are right ! Moved the LED out of the way slightly -

Well the purple wire is showing 12V and the red wire 5V with the ignition on.
Better get my soldering iron out again...........
