Jon,

I haven't heard from him for a bit, so it could be he's on holiday. He is up to his neck at the moment with work - he only does this as a "hobby" and he is also working on a new update. I know he has had to stop supplying Elanscan interface hardware for the time being due to these commitments, so give him time and I'm sure he'll get back to you.

Don't forget, you'll be getting the dogs doodahs for a very good price - I've just thrown out a Superchips "upgrade" which costs 2-3 times the price but all it appears to do is allow you to use an MBC without getting fuel cutoff!

Be patient and make sure you get the brakes upgraded first.

Jon,

Have u ordered the chip through ESM website? http://www.astb91.dsl.pipex.com/MountainChipMenu.html

I`d go for the SE Prom 9930
As 9929 but with revised CO potentiometer calibration to ensure that emission standards can always be met within the adjustment range of the potentiometer. See here. This chip will allow any emissions problems to be remedied but if the car is currently fitted with a 9239 or 9929 then the CO potentiometer will require require adjustment after the chip is fitted to prevent lumpy idle problems.

Just received mine this morning and fitted it in the same morning!I bought the 9930 also. The car seemed fine but I have not had the chance to test it. (too many cars around!)

I have not received a reply from my e-mail for a week now and I assume that he is too busy or is on holiday.Either way I should not worry. ;-)

Where's Elanscan Man?

Postby algirdas » Mon 05.06.2006, 19:02

Dear Malbon:

I have bought twice through his web-site with absolutely no problems what-so-ever. Just figure out what you need and give it a shot. So I would not concern myself with 100GBP floating off into the ether never to be seen or heard from again. Alan has 100% reliability with me.

And do keep in mind that this is only a hobby for him and the stuff he has done for this club I think we will all be hard pressed to find duplicated anywhere else. Granted, he may not respond to e-mails or turn things around as fast as, say, a business would, but for a hobbyist he is lightning fast IMHO.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

Where's Elanscan Man?

Postby algirdas » Mon 05.06.2006, 21:35

Dear Alan:

Whoa! You're on "holiday"? That looks and smells like a vacation to me!And you did not invite the rest of us to tag long? That does not seem fair. Especially to a guy who has gone so long without one that he has forgotten what they are like (vacations, that is). Do we have an emoticon for "green with envy"?

Enjoy!

Folks,

Just received an e-mail from Alan, we had a bit of a mixup with my order for an ALDL interface. It appears that someone received an interface AND a refund of their purchase price by mistake, and that person has not come forward to correct the mistake! I would hope that no one on this site would take advantage of Alan, as his work is important to the Elan community.

Best Regards,

Don Sladek

Where's Elanscan Man?

Postby algirdas » Fri 09.06.2006, 03:54

Dear Don:

Can we get a range of dates? I bought mine back at the end of 2005 and got it in time for Donington. If need be, I'll go back and check my credit card statements back to then, though I would be surpirsed if it is me. I think I would have picked up on the refund.

Sincerely,
