Don't worry Mark, sometimes these leads can be very useful. Alan has obviously confirmed that the device drivers are not compatible. The interface I bought did not have a latency problem as it fed data straight in without buffering, but as I said, the hardware interface was s***.

I could be wrong but I think the buffer at the route of the problem is part of the USB architecture (and so on the PC) rather than feature of the interface. I think the FTDI driver flushes the USB cache at an interval determined by its latency time. So the issue with the prolific is not a hardware problem per se but the absence of a required feature in the driver.

And I was just about to change the colour order of the mugs for red after you'd been so accomodating on my cable colour request! :-D

First trial run went disastrously wrong. Errors all over the shop and crap data. :smt088

I then remembered that the laptop had been re-built and drivers re-installed. As Alan advised, I SET THE LATENCY TO 1ms and all was well, so it looks like I might have a few to bring to Donington.

I'm not sure how many yet as I've been to see a pain quack today who's pumped my neck full of nerve block.

OK: I have 11 USB interfaces 99% built, just awaiting the USB leads to plug in, close up and test. The USB leads should arrive tomorrow, so I should have plenty for Donny. Oh seven nine four nine five seven eight eight eight oh :-D

If they all sell on Saturday, I can quickly put together some more for the overseas orders (DeanG in particular as he has a problem) and those who've confirmed so don't panic - I've bought in enough hardware to enable me to make up 30. :cry:

To everyone who was after USB interfaces at Donington - SORRY.

I had a late night on Friday, getting all the hardware together after my mother's 80th birthday meal. I was planning to do the final bit of configuration with a laptop in the carpark at Donington on Saturday but I had problems with the first one, it was difficult to see the screen with the bright sunlight and I was tired. I decided to play safe and bring them home so I will try to start getting them out this week. I really was desperate to get rid of them at Donington as I don't enjoy the packing and posting one bit, but I didn't want to offload anything without being certain it was going to work.

Twelve ready and proven but they don't fit in the cardboard boxes I've got very easily. :banghead:

As I don't get much pleasure out of the packaging production line, I'll probably get some jiffy bags to send the UK ones out. Dean, I'll get yours ready for Monday however and see if we can get your problem diagnosed.
