Mark (paza1): I sent yours out today.
Dave (DaveEds): Thanks, you have a PM.
Dan (Dansladek): Seeing as no-one else has come forward, do you want number 5?

Elanscan Interface

Postby Lotus_jet » Fri 20.10.2006, 22:07

Dear God,

My Elan and I would love to have an interface cable in order to communicate more effectively.

Please would you put me on your list. Any colour will do. A USB connection would be preferable.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Geoff, I can wait until you make another batch. I believe I'm # 13 on the list. Will take advice and opt for the serial version. PM me when they're ready with cost and where to send. Thanks

Received today Geoff. Nice cable! Just need to rebuild my laptop now, since it's given up on me....Just keep the change or pass it on to Stevo's charity funds...

Lotus_jet: I've added your details to the list. BTW the "God" status is something bestowed on us mortals by admins - I once managed to attain a "Wrinkly" status but unfortunately lost it. Must see if we can get something more appropriate sometime.

Mark: You have a PM.

Alan: Having just re-built because of a new motherboard, you have every sympathy. Once I get my PayPal acount sorted out, I'll send the balance on to Stevo - thanks.

Don: Unfortunately there is no choice in cable option! I built them all up with 3 metres of ribbon cable as I found a stash in the loft. To be honest, it is easier to wire into the 9 way plug and having tried it out in the car, I think it works better; it is possible to wire it through the hole in the back of the glovebox and leave the wire and plug neatly inside (i.e. without it jumping out to grab you every time you open it). Number 5 is a rather fetching Red/Orange/Yellow option as shown below - please let me know if you want it or would prefer to wait.

Geoff

If you can hang on to your pennies for a few weeks without spending them, I'll stick you on The List at the start of this thread.

Geoff

Like the new piccie (big improvement)

I take it those seats are after market refurb.......did you got to Lotus or other, pricey???

I know it's the wrong thread but I thought I'd ask anyway. My old Elite needs a refurb inside and it's getting to the point where I can't put it off much longer.

Ratman: I've has a quick look at your output but with my limited knowledge, I can't see a problem other than the rich air/fuel flag. It might be worth sending a PM to ESM or John_W to cast their expert eyes over it.

Mark: You have another PM.

Dermot: The seats are original Lotus (as are Ratman's by the look of it). Check out this thread for some info on factory re-furbs.

Second run with problems:
Time 50s to 56s, full throttle on 3rd gear. Coughs, many bangs in the exhaust main fold, no warnings.
Time 124s to 131s 1st gear, full throttle, no full power, no warnings.
I think that probably it’s a coil as in the other thread said to me. What do you think??
do you know a way to check the coils?
I found these coils (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carco ... ttype,7060 ). What are the correct type?
thanks to all

Hi Geoff,

Hopefully this reply won't 'fall off' the computer like the last one did before it gets sent.

I'd like to go on the list for a cable please - I'd prefer all black, but I'm not fashion conscious.

My previous experience of data loggers and ignition set-ups is limited, but I've always felt that a serial cable is more secure than a USB plug when driving 'playfully'.

MY old IBM has been thrown round Castle Coombe loads of times, and not broken yet (unlike the car  )

I'm not in any rush, first post Thursday will do!!!!

Seriously, I appreciate that health, work and your own life get in the way of the hobbies and will wait patiently!

Cheers, Dave
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

mailman221: No problem - list updated.

ratman: There is a UK source of coils at a resaonable price (£34.04 + VAT) - check here.

dapinky: List updated - and what colour would Angie like for her car?

Thanks, Geoff! nevertheless the ones I found seem cheaper, isn't it?
The only thing is that I really don't know if are correct for the Elan and what's the difference between them! the last type costs more than the double of the first type!

Ciao, F.
