If anyone is interested in the above, if they can provide some GNU C/C++ code to test the ALDL connection then I'll have a go at porting it.

My how things have move on technology wise. I haven't forgotten this and at the minute, I'm looking at a real time clock, big non-volatile buffer to save a few days of 10ms data at a time, possible sat-nav connection (or even an on-board sat-nav option) and Zigbee or even Zigbee Pro (so completely wireless with a range of over >1km)............

Still on the backburner, but I bought one of these for the boys to play with in the USA. Had a play with one at work so I've got some software to get them started - ElanScan with GPS records anyone? :D
