Yes, great news. Plots look good, timing might be a bit retarded but if running well its probably OK. If you do check the timing make sure its in service mode and warmed up.

Lovely stuff all. Thanks for looking at Elanscan RonR, ChrisM, and KensS

Yep, had some hard acceleration in an effort to clear the system out, and because it was great fun! - It was pretty much my first time driving the car, and it felt amazing, especially when the turbo kicked in.

Yeah, I do wonder why it started working at 14v, perhaps indeed because the terminals got cleared up. Some grease isn't a bad shout.

KenS, it did seem like it was running well yes. But, what would cause this? Could it be todo with the Cambelt not having been put back on properly? - I did have some issues trying to make sure everything was lined up. I'll look to get a timing light and take a look.

Thanks again all!

The timing should not be affected by a cam belt change, I suppose if the belt stretched it may have a very small effect. Timing may have last been adjusted when not in service mode, which is ineffective since the ECU compensates for any change made. May have been adjusted by ear or optimised for acceleration over a fixed distance, so if it seems to be running well then its probably best to stick with it, but no harm in checking what it is then deciding if to experiment with adjustment. If you do check it with a strobe, follow the procedure in the Closed Loop Manual Section EMJ.3 pages 21-22, setting Service mode and the IAC is important in the procedure.
Good luck, have fun.

Just as a follow-up: the times I’ve needed to work on the battery and associated wiring, I’ve found it just as quick to remove the hood well plastic base altogether.

IIRC, it’s three scrivets along the back nearest the boot, two either side next to the wheel arches, and four or five self-tappers into the firewall between the hood well and cockpit.

That opens up access enormously. Having had A LOT of practice, I reckon I can get it out within 5-6 minutes :D

Lovely, thank you for the info KenS.

Saltire, good advice - I ended up pulling it all out to replace the fuel filter - definitely gave much more access.
