I wonder if you are able to produce an elenscan interface for me please.
I have an early one somewhere but due to the several years of neglect of most things Elan, and a house move, I have not laid eyes on it yet despite some searching and suspect that it was not a USB version.
I have a misfire to diagnose so am quite keen!

An Elanscan log will be useful, but remember that many things that can cause a misfire will be invisible to Elanscan. It will only show up sensor faults that the ECU uses, and will not pick up wrong plug gaps, failed plug leads or incorrect static timing for instance. Those things may not set any fault code at all, or may just set a fault code that points to something else. What I mean is, don't just buy a potentially expensive new part that the fault code points to without cross-checking it.

I Replaced the coil packs and plug leads from stock but have just returned from Scotland and hope to do a scan soon.
I shall bear in mind your advice when I get a chance to play with the car.

Sorry for all who've asked for one, but I have a technical problem with the latest FTDI chips and my ALDL test equipment is in Newcastle for Bluetooth development, my portable 'scope is broken, it is too cold in the garage and I'm off to Spain for 6 weeks on 25th January.

I’m surprised that you’re not in Spain already. Or is the temperature in the balmy south a lot warmer than it is up here?
Anyway, I’m envious of you being able to go someplace warm. Have a cheapo Spanish brandy for me!

I'm allergic to dogs otherwise it probably would have done.
Still shorts and sandal weather down here - managed a 5 mile walk in 75 minutes today so the heart is getting there.
Where do I send the bill for the brandy?

Well I'm back and my test equipment is back but my 'scope is still broken and it looks like the Elan's ALDL is broken too.

The good news is that the interfaces check out fine, so I should have some available in the near future. If only I could remember who asked for them…

A bit of a family crisis has delayed things, but I've finally had some time to investigate further and having replaced the CMOS battery buried in the bowels of my old XP laptop it looks like it is an ElanScan issue with W7Home - XP is fine, W7Pro is fine, the Elan's interface is fine but my 'scope is still broken. I'm doing the final build and test on a small batch and will be in touch with those who've asked (Justin, Peter & Ian) very soon.

I seem to remember some people having "No frame start byte received" errors which was what I was getting with W7home - I think I put something on the Wiki but that appears to be broken!

Sounds good to me. I’m a Mac house hold. I have a very old XP laptop I keep alive for ODB2 duties and serial port upgrade of my HC receiver so I’m all good.
