I'm having the same trouble as others, I cannot find a way to make ElanScan run in Windows 7. I'd be most grateful for set of simple instructions.

Works for me (Win7 starter on a cheapy netbook). Download and install the FTDI drivers (you want VCP drivers) - http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Plug in ElanScan and windows managed to find the drivers for it having installed the FTDI ones above - note that each different USB port tends to get assigned a different COM port ID so try to stick to the same USB port. When you plug elanscan in, find it in Device Manager in control panel and it should tell you which com port it's using - you can then point the ElanScan software at this in the settings menu.

Many thanks. I found FTDI's instructions most helpful, and now I'm up and running. My Laptop would work wirelessly in the garage, and Windows then found the software.
