USB to serial converter

In case people with serial interfaces ever upgrade their laptop and find they don't have a serial port........... don't worry. I believe I have found a USB to serial converter that is compatible with ElanScan.

Unfortunately, it is not one of those £2 specials from the far East that isn't RS232 compliant, isn't capable of being set to 1ms latency and falls apart after a couple of days.

This is well engineered, is compatible with both ElanScan and my serial interfaces and has flashing blue lights into the bargain. It will also be cheaper than a new USB interface.

I've yet to try it out on the Elan, but it works fine on my test equipment. Watch this space.
