What am I doing wrong?

Postby chrishewett » Thu 25.09.2008, 10:00

Apologies for asking for help when I am sure I am just being thick.
I have finally downloaded elanscan to the new laptop ( XP) and plugged it in. I just get "bad echo".
Should I have downloaded a driver and if so how?
Thanks,
Chris

Not sure about XP, but I had to install a driver for Windows 2000. I can't remember where I found it but there is a link somewhere on here. I don't have my laptop with me at the moment so I can't upload the files.
You also need to set the device on the correct com port (if you have a USB lead, you need to modify the properties of this in device manager).

Chris,

Assuming you are using a USB cable you will need to download the driver.

Once the driver is installed you will need to tell ES what COM port the USB cable can be "seen" at.

Chris,

Sorry I missed this. Check out my website for definitive instructions on loading drivers for XP. Once you can see the interface as a COM port, you must select the correct COM port number within ElanScan.

Thanks for the help. Ifinally got it to work, I don't know how as I don't think I used the driver, but I have managed to get some results. However, when I try to do a prom dump I get the message "Aborting five consecutive mode two command failures". I hate computors! All I want is to get more boost!
The prom id says 9239. Shall I just order a chip and see what happens?
