On running Elanscan for the first time today, I noticed that my PROM ID came up as 7799. As my car is an S2 (with no modifications that I'm aware of) I'd been expecting the PROM ID to be 1499.
As ESM is away for a few days, can anyone else offer an explanation for the mystery PROM ID?

I've not heard of that one.
Take a PROM dump. It won't mean much to me, ESM will be able to identify your ECU from it.

Likewise and even my superchip prom had the correct ID. I'd suggest you do a bin dump and send it to Alan to have a look at.

I'll do a PROM dump and send it to ESM for comment.
As an aside, the Elanscan run (which was great fun) produced figures that, to my admittedly inexpert eyes, seem to be fine.

Whilst over on the IOM I plugged my lappy into Rolands (Inkitins) car......
....it gave a Prom number of 9939, which surprised me somewhat.....
...I was expecting 9929 or 9930, not a mixture of the 2
Any ideas??????
(apart from getting a Prom dump, 'cos I'm now miles away from the car, and that would need someone elses willingness to assist, which I can't guarantee )

Yes Dave, that surprises me somewhat as well.
Especially as you told me it was 9239 !!

All I really remember was that it ended with a 39, and not the 29/30 I would have expected

I know this is a couple of years old, but I just wanted to add that a MEMCAL from what I thought was the original ECU that was included in a box when I bought my car (the car had a newer one installed, I don't know why...maybe the original went bad?) reports a PROM ID of 6533... The car idles perfectly with it on, but I have not been brave enough to try and drive with it (fearing it might not even be an Elan MEMCAL unit...)
I checked this while troubleshooting my electrical woes, and the ElanScan interface I just got. I'll dump a rom image at some point and send it to Alan for forensic analysis...

If the MEMCAL is the incorrect one the car wouldn't start in all probability, so guess it's correct but a 6533 PROM is a puzzler. Thing is the PROM programming is easy to change and Lotus did change them alot for various reasons. Alan can shed more light on this I expect. Mostly just out of curious interest.......
