Windows 7 drivers

Hi.
I've installed elanscan onto my laptop (with newly installed Windows7), and have a USB interface cable, I'm just in need of info which drivers (if any, and where to get them) are needed, and what exactly to do.
Probably very noddy stuff for most on here, but this will hopefully be the first time it's been done on the 6+ years I've had the car!

There is a little bit on the Wiki relating to Windows 7.
I can't remember what I had to do to get mine working but it took a few minutes.
It does work though. You are not chasing a non-starter.

Can somebody help me setting up the driver for windows 7 , tryed about everything i know but the blody thing wont accept the driver ....
any sugestions ? i already tried everything in the wikilec ....

Is there a windows 7 usb driver? I bought my cable when Vista was spreading like a brand new plague and every thing worked on XP absolutely fine so that was them good old days. Now I have a laptop on loan with 7 and despirately trying to get it working but the XP usb cable driver is being snubbed by Windows7 (no surprise). Can someone posts a link to where I can download one?

FTDI USB drivers link on Geoffs ALDL interface web site (http://aldlinterfaces.appee.com/product.php?prodid=3) is a bad/broken link.
Geoffs link from ElanScan-Wiki is dead too.

It has ALL of the drivers for ALL of the FTDI chips.

Hopefully this will also work with Windows 8 as drivers are quoted in the table as working with 8.1.

The current version supports Win 8.1

Anyone that has already tried to install drivers might need to find and remove them and, in the hardware manager, remove the device(s) Windows was trying to install so you are starting from a clean install.

Thanks for encouragement John. Can now confirm it does work in Windows 8.1

It gives a port inactive response then I had to search around the different Com ports and ended up using no. 3, and got a response of some sort. Still didn't look as if it was working though, but drove 200yds around the block and got a completed scan.

Just washed car too after weekend's dirty drive through Pennines to Cubley Hall, so all looks nice and clean for the garage
