Future requirements for interfaces

As you may have seen, I have successfully prototyped a Bluetooth (BT) interface. One problem I have is that the requests for Serial and USB interfaces has largely dried up. Although I have a few made up in case I get any more requests, I am down to my last two ALDL connector sets, so that's ESM and I sorted for BT. The BT interface works with PC/Windows/ElanScan but ESM may look to developing ES for other platforms which may require BT.

I would like to gauge the future requirements for interfaces of any sort as it makes a very big difference on the price of the ALDL connectors if they are bought by the handful or bucketful. The current estimate for the BT interface is £75. Anyone who may be interested, please stick your name down with an indication of your preferred variant (USB or BT).

Forgive my ignorance here.......

....but what does the cost of the plug bits matter?

Isn't it better to splice the thing into the wiring behind the plug and just leave it all hidden, or am I missing something basic, like it'll overload and catch the car on fire??

I'll get around to ordering one someday, don't really mind whether usb or bt. Just need to get to a month where there isn't a more pressing need for the cash!

I'm certainly interested in an ALDL interface - I've been meaning to get one for years, just never got round to it.

I guess the overriding factor in USB vs BT is whether ESM will have a product for devices which don't have native USB support. Certainly if that is on the cards shortly I'd certainly lean towards a BT interface.
