Installing Elan Scan on new computers in Windows 10

Postby lolita » Fri 13.11.2020, 14:28

I have Elan Scan working well in Windows XP on an old computer which was loaded from Alan McNicols site a few years ago. I have a new computer with Windows 10. I have downloaded Elan Scan from Mountain Chip site. Everything loads as instructed but when I plug in the FDTI chip and go into Elan Scan it shows on the error log screen Comm port inactive. If I plug it into the Elan no information comes through onto the computer. I have also installed drivers from the FDTI site and followed the instructions but that does solve the problem of the error message. I have spent weeks on this problem - deleting and reinstalling Elan Scan and am now feeling very frustrated!! Could someone please HELP!

have you selected the correct com port?
Also check the wiki for troubleshooting - latency etc?

Have you checked the elanscan software version in the Manuals section. May be more up to date than yours?

I run Windows 10 and Elanscan works fine. As Simon says, check comm port options.

I understand your frustration with trying to get Elan Scan working on a new computer with Windows 10. I had a similar issue when I downgraded to Windows 10 recently. I've tried downloading Elan Scan from different sites and even installing drivers from the FDTI site, but nothing seems to work. I've spent weeks trying to fix this problem, and I know how frustrating it can be.
