ElanScan in Elan I'm interested in

Hi guys

I'm currently looking at buying an Elan, I've found one that looks fairly sound, but just have a few questions.

According to the owner it as an Elanscan Everest chip fitted, and I was wondering how this chip rates? Not knowing a lot about chipped cars.

Also, I know it's not quite the right subject area, but the car is Calypso red, but has grey leather seats with a yellow stripe. Just seemed a bit of an odd colour match, was wondering whether that is an option that the person who bought the car originally could have chosen, or whether it's likely the car has been re-sprayed, or something else.

well if it's got a ESM chip then we may know the owner here -- seats could be original or seats could have been swapped for better ones. Respray of different colour is possible but should be obvious if you look under the car and around the engine compartment. May be a car some people know well or not at all so it's up to you to say whose it is if you want . . .

The ESM chip is the best, but let's hope the rest of the car is properly in tune to be able to handle it well.

we have a CLOG (cheshire lotus owners group) meet this sunday...
I'll be there in my m100...monty might turn up...also dico....there are usually a minimum of about half a dozen cars.....
if youre interested and have an hour or so why not pop down.....take your prospective purchase for a spin and then get us lot to give it a once over!!!
anyway we meet at the swettenham arms 1st sunday of each month so this months its this weekend sunday the 5th.....
1:30 onwards the swettenham arms, swettenham, near holmes chapel, cheshire.......hope you manage to get down......

as for your seats mine were dyed yellow and originally had a red stripe....I found this out when I gave them a good clean.....with a bit of elbow grease and leather cleaner they'll go back to a red stripe.....might swap or something......anyway thats for the future...

oh, fantastic. I actually live in Alsager so I'm only just around the corner. The car I'm interested in is in Bristol and I should be popping down to take a look this weekend with a bit of luck, but obviously I wouldn't be able to take it to the meet. Will still try my best to make it to the meet though, if I go and take a look at the car on Saturday.

He seems pretty genuine and decent, and the car looks pretty tidy.

He's sent me photos, but I'm currently at work and can't upload anything, but will bring them to the meet on Sunday for perusal. It's a red Elan, reg H628EKN, if anybody knows anything about it.

Its free space from pipex - it does go AWOL from time to time.

checked it out last night. seems to be working fine. The Everest is def going on the shopping list for next payday. Counting the days to May 20th.
