ElanScan - new release

I've put a new beta version up on my site! :shock:

The excel export seems a lot faster to me but you can judge for yourselves.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to sit on your arse with a blank look on your face.

Alan,

All looks good but I did have a minor gremlin. Some black and purple curves appeared on the chart - they covered a smaller timescale (est. a few %) than the rest of the data and I couldn't get rid of them by zooming, changing data etc. Re-running ElanScan got rid of them and I haven't managed to reproduce them since!

PS Someone has plagiarised the ElanScan icon and used it on an online gaming programme :wink: Don't ask how I came across it!

I have the SW, I have data (Test1.ecu), I haven't the cable.
I'm trying to learn how to use Elanscan, waiting for the cable but I'm not able to read the data because Elanscan gives error when I'm opening the file.

I tried also in test mode.
What I have to do? Thanks!

Could you send me the test1.ecu file? Also try the .ecu file Sy's recently linked on his Stripey2 project thread.

If you can figure out how to induce it let me know - its not something I've come across before.

Re the plagarism - if you mean the icon the elanscan.exe file shows then it s not nicked from me, its the standard default icon Delphi (the software development package I use) puts on all applications it produces.

I just loaded that file no problem with the ElanScan_beta.exe... What operating system are you using and could you send a screen dump showing the error?

Ratman,

You are correct. ElanScan attempts to write the initialisation file "M100 ALDL protocol.ini" into the windows directory when it is first run, so you should load/run it the first time as an administrator. On subsequent runs I don't believe you need to have write privileges so you need not be logged in as an administrator.

Ok maybe I can fix it... I'll change the .ini location to

c:\documents and settings\application data\Elanscan

or something like that.

Crop and copy work a treat but just a couple of minor observations:

Cursor details "Point X of Y" are not updated after cropping until after the cursor is moved.

The curve line style/colour and points shape/colour revert to default.

Otherwise excellent mods which make export to Excel damned fast once the data of interest has been selected.
