i have an electrical problem with my s2
if i turn on the headlights the radiator fan turns on and the headlights stay off. also the horn doesn't sound anymore.
could it be a lack of some kind of maffa on the frame? can someone help me? thanks guys from roma italia

those 3 wiring circuits are meant to be independent from each other

i cant even imagine a ("standard") poor aftermarket imobiliser instalation crosswiring those 3. they would potentially connect to the horn. but the coolant temperature switch wouldnt make any sense.

if i recall correctly the horns and the headlamp wires are going to the front from opposite sides. so a rat chewing on them also seems unlikely. but being a ROW car, even if i recall this corectly, it may not apply to yours

my suggestion is, untill you get further advice. start by following the wires in the engine bay just to rule out shorts and damage.

horns not working is becoming a very common thing. with 3 cases reported across different online means. and 2 more that i know of personal involvement. within a matter of less than 2 months

what makes me not put a lot of enphasis on that fact is because you mention 2 other unrelated circuits being affected at the same time. but there is a good chance they are unrelated issues

Difficult to predict the cause, so this is only a guess! Usually odd faults are due to bad earths, but looking at horn, fans and lights, there is a common 12V supply to each circuit '+12V Batt 27' which comes from fuse A12. Maybe that connection is shorted to ground and blown the fuse so instead of 12V that connection is 0V? Might be worth checking that fuse A12, if its blown then look for a short on the line.

i checked all the fuses, all the connections, i disconnected the headlight control unit. nothing, i cant get the headlights to work. as i said, if you turn on the headlight switch when the car is running the cooling fan turns on and the headlights stay off, also the turbo pressure gauge doesnt work and the horn doesnt work. is there a general control unit that makes these things work? i dont have the main wiring diagram, but the block one. could it be the relays that are not working properly? who can help me? can i take my elan only during the day. i translate with google i hope you understand me...help

So the main beam headlamps come on with the flasher. That's good!

Ken has already sent a picture of the headlamp wiring in this thread. Here is the section in the manual which explains how the lamps work:

Note: you have the "single pivot" headlamps on an S2, not the fold back type.

In the last few months, several people have had a problem with the Pod Control Module, which is what controls the lifting and lighting of the headlamps. Replacements are available, and Tuga2112 - who has posted on this thread - has a fix as well. However, that doesn't explain why your fans are coming on.

Do you know how to use an electrical meter to find faults, because that would help to narrow the problem down?
