A lot of issues....

Finally I've decided to repair all the issues as I can (unfotunately, as many of you could know, here in Italy is not so easy to find good mechanics and cheap spare parts), but I still need some help:

1) headlamp fix: my right motor don't work... I need the repair kit, I saw it available in an american site, but I wish to find it in UK, maybe from SJ ('cause I'll buy other parts from SJ), but in the catalogue I can't find it; what do you do in UK?

2) window regulator: I'll buy from SJ

CLIP, (Butterfly) GLASS to REGULATOR
WINDOW LIFT SWITCH (the button in the center console)

3) Speedo indicator: I'll buy speedo cable from SJ

4) fuel indicator: ...... mmmm ..... I don't know what to do!!!! My fuel indicator never worked!!!! However my fuel pump work fine, and my "pseudo" mechanic told my the problem is the floating switch inside the pump... what I have to do? I must change all the pump?

5) Check engine light: I think is the famous CAS.... i try to explain: when I'm driving and I'm stopping my car, if I use the engine brake, leaving the RPM decreasing slowly, the check engine light turn on and I must turn off my car, or my engine start to work very badly, knocking... Somebody thing that's the CAS?

I wish to tanks in advance everybody could help me, I hope to receive soon some hints.

Monty, thanks for the hint about the ALDL test, my car is now at mechanic workshop doing this, I'll let you know what kind of error I'm having.

About the headlamp fix kit, I was searching for a dealer closer than in China or Korea... however thanks a lot.

Somebody know other dealers in Europe?

Gianni, your fuel gauge might not be working because the sender unit in the fuel tank might be catching on the side of the tank ?. When i had to drain my tank, i took the sender unit out of the top & it took 3 attempts to get it back in the right position. Hope it is this, as them sender units are not cheap, about £250 if i remember right ?

Thanks Paul for your reply, unfortunately my mechanic told me the sender unit work fine, he told me the issue could be something electrical circuit related, could you agree? (obviously the circuit of the sender unit)

The sender unit is fully enclosed as i remember, what you could do is take it out of the petrol tank, reconnect it, lift the arm up & see if your gauge works, if it don't work, theres a good chance your unit is knackered & you will have to replace it. My mechanic told me my unit had had it, until i insisted he looked at its position within the tank , that saved me £250 !

It was the floater and the replacement part came from a simple part store for several euros!

With AB Motorsports, you could contact WillB. I placed the order with him, and he had it shipped in from AB in Thailand. The AB cables are significantly superior to the stock. I would not hesitate to wait the extra few days or even the extra few lire to purchase those from AB Motorsports. Hope you found this helpful.

Thanks Fubar for your hint, unfortunately I had the gear cable issue on 2002 and I'v fixed it buying the cables here in Italy, you can't imagine how much money I've spent for this!!!! I was stupid and newbie, for this reason I was gone in an official Lotus shop... the result: a pair (the dealer told me ho could sell only the pair) of cable 600 euros....

You don't need to have the repair-kit to do the headlight motors. The 3 small "plasticthings" can easely be replaced with 3 pieces of gasoline hose, diam. 13mm.

Have done this to mine, and it works just perfect.

Thought it was the plastic cog that needs replacing
