Central Locking System installation

Hi,

Is it possible to fit an Central Locking System on a Lotus Elan Se.

I don't know if it is the corect name. That thing that wen u press a button on a remot control, both dors lock up!

is it possible?

they come as standard. What's wrong with yours?

I'm still confused!

Does every Lotus Elan Se (1990) Comes with alarm and Central locking? And Alarm?

I have one small key that opens both thors, but not symultaniosly(have to open my door and open the oder from the inside or go all the way around and opent it with the key), another key to the gluve box and another one for the ignicion.

I bought it half year ago.Lots of time at a mechanic. so im kind of starting this thing of Do It yourself Elan Owner thing lol.

All M100 have central locking and there are 3 keys to these cars. Try locking the car from the inside and see if the other door locks Automatic. Has the car got an Alarm? u should have a fob, as the standard Alarm also works the Central locking with out using a key

Mine works of the Aftermarket Alarm, but if i`m in the car and lock the drivers door the passenger doesn`t lock (which it should do) but if i get in on the passenger side and lock it the driver side also locks, so my car is a bit like me Backwards lol

I don't kow if mine has alarm! did they all had? how can I see it?

Wen I open the driver's door with the small key, the passanger door doesn't open.
from the inside it's the same!

On the driver's side ther's a part missing. it's that thing that you push up and down to open and close! lol, i don't know the Enlish term for that part.

Can anyone help me to sort it out?
how to make an "inspection" to the locking and alarm system? how can i identify it? where is it? to see what's missing or not working?

Do these car came with a remote control for lockin?

Hi!

I have those 3 keys! but i dont have the spear ones.

I'm From Portugal (Porto) and I've (my dad) recently bough this elan!

It needed some mechanic work (pipes,belts, filter, oil changes...). ?

I didn't knew about the central locking system.

The car is an 1990 Elan Se Turbo.

I would like to solve this! it would be very easyer with the locking system.

Maybe i will strip the door to see the mechanism.

It sounds to me like your car should certainly have Central Door Locking (CDL) as standard.

Have you looked in the online manuals for information? The Central Door Locking (CDL) is described in section BK 2 on pages 4 to 6 (the parts within the door) and in section MJ9 on pages 23 to 25 (the central control unit and electrics).

There are a few threads dealing with the doors and CDL. If the wiring is in a mess, it might be worth contacting a Dutch member Evert who offered "I can make schematics for the CDL control and mail it on request" in his post here: http://www.lotuselancentral.com/forum/v ... cking#9878

The "central" module of the central locking is a long black box about 15cmx5cmx4cm which is mounted under the dashboard just right of the steering column on a RHD car. I don't know where it is on a left-hand drive car like yours.

There are also write-ups about how to strip the doors apart if you decide to go in there.

One thing to check is if you have a non-standard alarm system fitted. The standard alarm works off the central door locking (so I presume your alarm doesn't work either). If somebody has fitted a replacement alarm system, they may have disabled the standard alarm and CDL to allow the new alarm to operate. Do you have an alarm or an immobiliser on your car?
