Drl for canadian importation??

Ive just imported my Elan to Canada and we've been told it will need Drl here in Quebec. Any one had to go through this process and if yes how did you do it?

Canadian Tire or similar, basic, simple and cheap and if anyone starts talking big $$s - move on.

Plus, all the bits needed are probably there already...more knowledgeable people may jump in now.

PS it is an almost nothing "thing".

Been there done that (and i still have the DRL module in my toolbox for the next one ) As the car is more than 15 years old you don't need the federal inspection, only the provincial. As the federal DRL law doesn't apply you could argue that DRL's are not required, but every province is different. Even in BC i have had cars pass without DRl's several times but you get the occasional guy who doesn't interpret the regulations the same way. They confuse the 'after 1989' with 'new car'. Ontario for example does not require DRl's on cars 15 years or older, have you specifically been told they are required by your PROVINCIAL inspector? If you don't feel like making your argument then Canadian tire sells a cheap DRL module (link below) that is very easy to install (then un-install once you've passed ) The problem on the M100 of course is the pop up headlamps, so i have fitted them to the sidelights without a problem, but in Quebec they may demand that the headlights be used in which case its a little more complicated to tie in, but its just a matter of determining the correct wire on the headlight module. However... in Quebec the SAAQ follow transport Canada guidlines :

so technically you don't need DRL's Also, as the car is more than 15 years old you DO NOT need to get the inspection done at Canadian Tire, in fact i would suggest you don't, go to your small local garage and show them the TC regulations, if they insist buy the DRL from CDN tire and ask the small local guy to install it
