Can anyone help me find a cap for the top of the head lamp motor please? It does not seem to be a separate part, but presumably came complete with the motor. When I bought the car there was already one missing and, having spent a lot of time making things under the bonnet look pretty, it would be really nice if I could find a replacement.

These were used on US GM cars like the Corvette. Google "88-99 Corvette Headlight Motor Override Knob".

Brilliant! Thank you. A bit pricey, when you add shipping, for what they are but I've ordered from a US supplier and am very pleased.

On my first Elan they were both broken..... over many years no-one commented on the 2 plastic caps from cans of WD-40 which were painted black and glued into position, so it can't have looked too bad!

Bearing in mind that this was back in 2006 when the forum was full of people like Sy V, Monty, Dico, Stevieshag and others of that ilk, I don't think that "too polite" was something likely to be the reason

My Heath Robinson fix - it doesn't stop them "locking" down though
