custom rear lights

Hi , I have a thermoplastics friend who is attempting to to recreate the external shape of the rear lights on my M100 using black gloss plastic sheet. My plan is to replace the originals with these and mount externel light clusters similar to the later made model .The plan being my originals can be wrapped in cooton wool and put somewhere safe until I change cars . Will let you know how it goes fingers crossed.
