Sound system install

Postby stevie-a » Sun 23.03.2025, 18:46

As title says I am changing the stereo system, the previous owner had the stereo fitted, but it was constantly on you had to take the face plate off to switch off.
Is this normal ?
On checking the wiring it went into the standard loom, but I didn't like this method. I wired a new ignition live from fuse 24 on the footwell.as I was doing this I upgraded the speaker system.

Replacing the 4 inch front and 4 1/2 inch rear, to 6.5 inch all round, not forgetting the 300W Compact Active Subwoofer.

I am waiting for some new phono cables to complete

short video of install (p.s You will need to press the play button on link )

yes all normal.

I Have rewired both of mine differently.

the yellow car has a split from the ignition wire that feed the cigarrete lighter. on ingition.

i dont think thats very neat (althoug "safer" )

so when i did the green car. i took advantage of the fact the NA doesnt have a digital clock and the plug is still there with everything at hand. and i learned from the process that the SE has exactly the same wires in the plug for the analogue clock... a video is in the memory card. i just cant be bothered to do all the editing
Still learning

my new RCA cable arrived today to connect my subwoofer, I have never seen anything like that in my life, one of the connections was so tight I decided to take it back out, and decided to leave half of itself inside the subwoofer.

luckily I managed to get it out, I have no order for a good quality set from Amazon, I would like to get this done before the weekend, add my local Lotus Club have got an invite to Glasgow lotus in Hamilton on Sunday,
