the replacement alternator seems to be the geo storm
Part # 97027568= Alternator 186-0545
Part # 94137478= Alternator Belt 141-1305
Model: NIPPONDENSO 10211-7050
(i think its the right belt, thats the geo one,it has to be replaced at the smae time as the alternator)
dunno if id' be cheaper/better to have the old one refurbed and i'm not looking forward to changing it.
i'm having a few few problems at 0-5PSI boost, engine hesitates exactly at 0, to 5psi then its fine all the way up. i'm hoping that running high altitude petrol then dropping down to sea level and not waiting til it was changed over, didn't do anything bad, coz the car was running fine at high altitude, soon as we hit sea level it started to act like that, and we were pushing it pretty hard, it ran flawlessly at high altitude, cold weather, and sucked at close to sea level(san fran) around 60F
higher octane does seem to make it a bit better, but its hard to find 100 octane petrol around here, and boosters don't raise it enough, especially on premium, also all the ones i can find run MMT which there seems to be some worries about damaging O2 sensors and stuffing up CATs with continued use of it, i wonder if a mix of 10/20% tolly would be better than an off the shelf booster
our petrol is 91 RON currently
i have alans chips, but i haven't put them in yet, since i figured it'd be better to get ir running properly before i started changing it, but its possible the altered fuel maps may even help out.
worst thing is just trying to find a mechanic who really understands the elan/turbos/fuels, the one guy that knows the elan is always booked for weeks (viking motorsports), maybe i should just drop it off for a while with him see what he can do, hopefully my elise will get back from its carbon fibre makeover soon so i can take it in
then i have to go replace the fuel tank, as it seems like its cracked at the neck as per the recall, since it stinks of gas if its filled to the top, vent, wine, cheese............
still its nice to fly past elises even with the stutter
i saw a red m100 in MDR for 14,000K with 12K miles on it , seems like a good donor !
