i just aint got a clue

my elan is playing me up at the moment, the box (ecu??)behind the glove compartment has a mind of its own, when i drop the glove box and mess with the wires or just slightly move it, the engine runs perfect, let it go and it starts jumping or stalling, it only takes the deftest touch and its fine or vice versa, only found out that it was this as it was having one of its moments when i was getting something out of the glove box, shut it and it was fine again, is this very strange or is me,
my thinking is a loose wire, but which one?? or is the box knackered :?:

Dave

There are two looms which end in multi plugs that go into the ECU - check that the plugs (which can be quite tight) are seated and clipped into place.

Also, check that the small earth wire that connects under one of the fastening nuts is tightly in place.

Where did you buy your Elan from...is it (or has it been) chipped? I'm not casting performance doubt on the chip...just wondering whether it [the ECU] has been removed and not reconnected properly.
