Desmond.
send an IM to Andrew Ennis to ask him for the Word write-up he did for fitting large front door speakers, crossovers and tweeters. I think they were 6 inch.
John :)

okie...after looking around and doing just a little bit of listening...i think i will settle for the following setup:
1. Focal 165 K2 Power (6.5inch) - may still get the MB Quart QSD216.
I have listened to the both brands' lower range speakers to get a feel. Focals have good clear highs whereas the MB Quart have very good imaging and sound staging. It's really quite a tough choice between the two. I like good imaging and sound staging but am also very sensitive to clarity and timbre so...the MB Quart QSD216 is the top of the line..so perhaps the high ends and better? Overall MB have frequency range over 30K HZ!! but i was really surprised to hear the Focal giving out more detail and precision though rated to 22K HZ on the high. I would have to take another audition of the higer end models finally.
2. 1 x Morel Elate SW11 for the subs (i wanted 2 but the installer told me that it may be too tough on the amp). It has one of the shallowest mouting depth and is not too difficult to drive. I havent heard them but have got very good feedback from all the installers so far. Besides i dont have too much choice so i am decided on this one.
3. My amp as before was the PPI DCX600.4 but i am quite afraid that it may not be powerful enough to drive the component speakers. Anyway, let's see how the how setup will be in 2 weeks time before i update again with pics and review.
thank everyone who has given comments and opinion so far !!

Desmond,
I have a set of infinity Beta 5 1/4 components in my fronts. I built custom tweeter pods where the little black plastic triangles are that cover the tops of the window tracks. you should be able to fit 6.5's but you will have to do alot of cutting and they may not fit depth-wise.

well, u may not believe this but i intend to place the tweeters where the left and right air con vents are. this is because i re-did the airconditioning to be a more powerful system and channel all flow througth the centre vents. i figured i havent been using sides much and also wanted to take the remove the dated looks of it out of the car....but i will still give consideration to what the installer have to say..and u are quite right, i am pretty sure there will be a lot of cutting and stuff.
back to the amp, i think i may have to head back to the shop to see if i can upgrade it to the 1000.4 instead. the 600.4 features only 75W x4 channels at 4ohms. this is not sufficient for nominal operation of 100W for the Focals...man, tough luck

I don't see why not, but Tony's your man for page updates, I tend to handle the download side of things...

ok just to provide a brief update on the selection:
1. Front FOCAL K2 Power 6.5 Inch components. (couldnt decide on the Rainbow Profi Vandiums because i cant audition them!!) They have been fitted already.
2. AMP: Still the PPI DCX600.4 ..since i bought it but am still concerned over it powering the Focals in unbridged mode. Else may have to get 1 more amp. I like this amp but it is very very heavy which is bad. i have indicated to install the amp in the cockpit. there is now no more centre pocket in the back panel behind the seats.
3. 2 x Morel 9" subs behind the driver and passenger seats. to be installed. but should fit snug!
update again later...cheerz!

I received the PDF, which for future reference is a smaller file, and easier to work with when converting files to webpages.
I'll convert it to a page as soon as I get time, work is currently hectic to say the least so my only spare time is in the evenings, which is already heavily timetabled with social events.
