interior lights

my interior lights are staying on i checked the on if switch and its inerfering with my alarm and when i go to remote lock it door lock just closes then opens any ideas

Have you checked that the headlight dial is pushed in? It can turn the interior light on by pulling the switch out.

The doors locking, and 2 seconds after unlocking again, is because the alarm thinks one of the doors are open.

Could it be a door switch not closing? This would account for the lights being on, and the locks cycling, when the remote is operated.

Try it without the alarm. In other words, sit in the car and press the lock button down.
The other one should lock too.
If they both then pop up again, I reckon it's the switch that tells the central door locking that one of the doors is still unlocked.

Enright is on the money i.e there's a micro switch in each door that controls the interior light and feeds into the central locking system. I had one go on mine over the winter, hence why my battery is fried (voltage dropped to -0.5v).

In my case, the fault was with the wiring loom and not the switch itself. The easiest way to check it is to disconnect the door connector block where it enters the car (right close to the door hinge but on the inside), check the wiring loom for the correct pair of wires and drop you multimeter across the pair on ohms or continuity. You'll soon see if the switch is working or not, without the need to 'open' up the door pannel.

Exactly the prob. I had last year - started with the interior light, then the locks opening and closing on their own as I was driving
On mine it turned out to be a dodgy connector inside the door. Some details here

Agree with Darren, Dave, Ray & Neil. This was the first problem I ever had with the car. When I went to buy it I asked the seller to demonstrate the alarm and it did exactly as you describe. (So I got him to knock something off the price .)

Quick solution is to pull the fuse (at the passenger's ankle) which disables the interiior lights and door microswitch. My final solution was to take the door card off and find the electrical fault. Mine was in the passenger door (if you disconnect the wiring block as suggested you'll find out which to dismantle). The fix was just to clean and lubricate wiring, connectors, microswitch and all actuators.

I've had no further problems in the last 5 years.

cheers for the help lads i have sat in the car locked it by the alarm and the door lock drivers side locks then unlocks passanger door stays open if i lock drivers door when its open and passanger door tries to lock then stops its like its slow or under powered i took the fuse out of interior lights when i got feed up of the alarm honking put fuse in i will have alook at sugested idears tommrow and let you know how it unfolds cheers for now aaron
