This just suddenly stopped working one day and I'm not sure how to trace the fault. I've checked the bulb and it appears to be ok. I can't imagine the boot light would have a fuse of it's own would it? Dodgy earth point maybe, or faulty switch?

Alan,
It's off the same supply as the interior light via fuze A14 (5A) so check the interior lights are working first. Otherwise, I'd try the switch which switches the lamp down to earth.

Did you check the bulb electrically or just by looking at it?
If it was the later, I'd suggest doing the former! Sometimes a bulb may look like it is ok.
Cheers, Paul

Cheers guys - will try as suggested. I tested the bulb by doing a continuity test and that was ok.

Have you checked that you're receiving current to the bulb itself?
Mine wasn't working when I bought the car, the electrical connection near the switch (which is activated by the hinge to turn off the light when the boot is closed) had corroded and was no longer actually connected.

Bingo! As above. It was so much more obvious when I could look at it in broad daylight with all this sunshine we've been having of late. Spotted a loose wire (loooking rather corroded at one end) hanging near the switch/boot hinge.
Thanks.
