Inside my dipped beam units there is a small black domed shaped piece, riveted onto a metal frame, so it actually sits in front of the light bulb. On one of the units, this has come off, & i'm pretty sure it can't be put back on, as it looks like it was assembled before the unit was sealed. My question is, what does this do, & has it now rendered the unit useless ?

Just really need to know if it knackered Dave ?, it came off SBK's S2, so i'm presuming it was being driven like it, must of rattled like a goodun !

mmmmmmmm, i wonder if i`ve got the same problem as my dip beam are bright and had other road users flash there lights at me. I noticed this when i 1st bought the car but it passed a MOT so assume the alignment is right

After one of the trackdays i had to change the head light bulb and it was the correct watts etc so that rules that out.

Since that part has fell off is that light now brighter than the other? and what make are your dip beam lens?

When i get chance i`ll have a good luck at mine and also compare to Dico`s

Monty, i don't know if there brighter, as havn't had these on, they came off SBK's car. They are Cibie units, & should think you could here the rattle of the domed piece inside. All i really want to know is, is this unit knackered now ?

Just had a quick look, it`s difficult to see through the lens but think i can see the black thing u`r talking about and would say it`s for directing the beam or maybe it blocks part of the beam so u don`t blind on coming cars

So i would think that part has to be there.

Yea, reckon your right Monty, so really that unit is scrap now, pity, cause its a good unit apart from that !
