Just thought I'd add my two-penneths worth. I have a Hayward & Scott 2.5" system with a 100 cell hi flow cat. It's amazing, what else can I say. Prior to the Mountain chip this was the best spent money. They had the car for 4 days and the price was £800 + VAT. Expensive, I know, but a work of art! I think the split was £350 for the cat and £450 for the rest. One thing they did do was to relocate the (one and only) cat to where the pre-cat used to be. Apparently with the bigger pipe there was insufficient clearance under the car to put the cat there. It was a good choice because it looks better where it is, and I couldn't afford to loose any more ground clearance.
Jon

Hi Jon, i read all about your exhaust on here and its what i'm trying to copy, i rang Haywood and Scott and they quoted £900 + vat and would want the car for a week and weren't exactly bending over backwards to do any bulk discounts either, shame as there closer to me.
As regards the cat Powerspeed says he has a cat the same size as the original so no prblems with it going in the stock position.

Your option now seems the best all round for the price. Custom built jobs are always going to be pricey and you certainly can't compare the workmanship to a Kwik-Fit monkey's attempt!

Paul.P, not sure steve would be happy with u posting that on his thread LOL. anyways sounds like a good price but sounds like that doesn`t include the down pipe and i still want to replace the precat, so that would push it up another £150 approx The best thing is it includes vat and fitting. But i`m going to hold out to see the price of steve`s.

Stef, Standard size is 2". bigger exhaust more HP sauce, John.w has done elanscan runs on this, he`s got a 21/4 and he could keep up with Dico so i would say he`s pushing over 200bhp. Anyway did u not buy an exhaust from SJ`s?

Monty, Steve asked me on page 1 to name the company & give the quotes, so thats what ive done ?. I'll make some more enquiries about replacing the pre-cat. £5-600 seems a lot of money to me as its only 2 pipes & a back box & doesn't include fitting !

Oh yeah so he did LMAO, just trying to get u in trouble ::)

It`s actually replacing 3 pipes (don`t forget the down pipe) + back box and u`ve got replacement precat, oh and the flexi bit ;D
Hopefully Steve should get it for less than £500. I know it`s alot of money and i know Jimp had one done for about £400 and John.W cost £350. But i`ve shown an interest in this one and i`m not going to mess steve about. Let us know how u get on thou ;D

Just trying to give another option if Steve's company don't come up with the goods. I have e-mailed them again to see how much to replace the pre-cat, will let you know. Steve, i am still interested , please feel free to contact Exhaust UK if you want & see if they will give you a better deal, i didn't really know what to ask for other than a 21/2" complete system, so the price may well be the same with the pre-cat ?. My contact is rachel@exhaustuk.com

I have a stainless 3 part SJ zaust, all but the bit which attaches to the engine - which I was told would very unlikely need replacing.

I have a chip, of course, so that takes me to around 200 bhp. What would a bigger zaust do from there?

The power's gotta be worth the dosh as I have a billion and 1 other things to spend it on otherwise.

Not sure if this is correct Stef, but from what ive gathered you need the larger bore exhaust to extract the most from your chip, i'm sure someone will correct me if thats not right ???

Stef,

John.w could tell u more, the way i look at it is the Exhaust give`s u the most BHP and the chip gives u extra boost/aceleration and the correct fuel delivery so they both go hand in hand.

all but the bit which attaches to the engine - which I was told would very unlikely need replacing

The reason they say that, is they can`t be arsed to make up the front pipe cause it has a flange were it connects to the precat

Jesus no one answers for days then all this the one night i'm not around ::)

Paul, don't worry mate i want to be talked into spending less ! :) , but from the things i've read about Exhaust UK, they seem to be a bit too much like Powerflow to me, seem to be all clio's, escorts and saxo's, and to add final insult they are on the max power site ! There price is very Powerflow too and i still need to add a cat and the most difficult bit the pre cat eliminator so dont really see it as a comparitive thing but maybe an option for some. Also i get the feeling they quoted without seeing the car ? I'd rather spend a little more and we are talking little really (£300 + pre cat elimator = £450 -£500 anyway) and get the right quality job. Another thing is how are they gonna fit a 2.5" exhaust to a 2" precat ? bet they wont even know about the precat as they haven't seen the car ;D I have a doubt they will do a precat replacement when they see it but if they do it will certainly be extra, a lot extra theres a lot of work involved in it.

Monty and Dico, you guys have confused me a bit, i have quoted for the exhaust to start from the precat back, as in take the precat off and then start the exhaust, is that what you thought ? The other thread about the precat replacement is changing the piece above this too i believe ?

Stef, just do it you know you want too lol ! You could sell your SJ to someone easy enough and unleash that chip to it's full potential !

I am hopefull of a much better se price, with no main cat and the easy £100 off for 5 systems it would come out at £490 plus vat fitted so with a further haggle and no fitting who knows ?

Yea, take your point Steve, will still investigate further just in case, theres no harm in asking. Can i ask, once your company has made one system that fits properly, will the others just be a carbon copy, so they can be sent through the post ( so to speak ) & fitted at our nearest garage ?

Longer term I will be interested in developing Blipi further but what with buying a house, re-spray and hard top I don't think I have ever seen so much of my money go out in such a short space of time before! :o

When things are sorted and a clear whats what and costs are finalised I shall try to make a decision.

Cheers
