What would be the benefits of a PCE over taking the restriction out of the old pre cat ?If the difference is minimal .Would i be better pre preparing a second pre cat ready to fit ?With the new exhaust. Max & Andy

There's only a restriction inside some of the pre-cats e.g. Federal ones, but all of them have a 2" outlet.
Therefore no matter what sized exhaust you bolt on after that, you've still got a partial restriction in the flow, like pinching a straw when blowing through it.
The Piper PCE has a 2.5 inch outlet, so the restriction is purely down to the size of exhaust. However you're almost certain to need to open out (port) your wastegate by a few mm to keep up with the increased flow through the rest of the system, as it's already marginal and the mod can push it beyond it's design limits.

Exhaust restrictions are more crucial at the engine end.....so I've read.
So yes, this difference is important.
