Rubber Grommets for Radiator

Postby Monty » Fri 01.03.2013, 19:56

Found out my Alloy rad is leaking due to it being lose and can only assume the rubber grommits have popped out and now i need to remove the rad to have repaired.

So i require 2 upper rubber grommits that sit in the tops section of the chassis/crash structure were the rad spiggots would sit.

Or if anyone has dimension to the grommits that would be a big help too.

Here's one...

I've got an old rad in the garage so I can measure the ID if you want and you can estimate the OD from this picture:

Or you can buy 2 off A100K6016F from SJS for 81p each. :D

I just received in the mail from the fine folks at Dave Bean's 2 each of the "Grommet, radiator mounting, top - A100K6016F" and the "Bush, radiator mounting, bottom - A100K6017F" - pics below. Having just removed my radiator, the top grommets were a bodge job from the shop that built me a new radiator ~12 years ago so I didn't have a reference for the size of the proper grommets except for remembering seeing the picture Geoff linked in this thread - the ones I received in the mail seemed way too small from what I remembered seeing in this thread. Having spent way too much frustrating time unsuccessfully looking for this thread using LECs search function, I found it again after realizing that you guys across the pond have been spelling grommet as a cross between its "proper" spelling and Wallace's companion :-D :poke: To my relief the sizes match as I forgot that you are all in the process of "metrication" and that the ruler in Geoff's liked picture was in metric denominations :bonk:

Hence the picture! Titles now sorted.

Well it does say 'MM' and the Elan uses a Japanese engine and metric nuts and bolts... :D

Hence the picture! I saw that and thought it was clever
