Headlamp motor

Hi all i seen to have ended up with a problem.After repairing my l/hand headlamp motor I placed it back onto the élan connected and operated it by hand job completed or so I thought,when I operate the light switch the right one pops up the left one stays down until I switch off then the left one pops up and vice versa, has anybody experienced this problem if so i'll be very grateful if someone can come up with a remedy thanks all.

Could it be possible that the wires are connected the wrong way round causing he motor to operate in reverse ,it might just be as simple as that

In theory the electrical plug will only fit 1 way.... In practice it may be possible to fit it the other way around but it would not lock.
I seem to remember having this problem years ago after replacing my lights but do not remember how I fixed it.

If Hatters solution does not work. Close the lights from the switch and disconnect the rod from the motor that is still up.
Let the light close and then wind the motor using the knob on the top until you can reconnect it to the arm on the motor.

it mentions this in the Wiki when it talks about refurbishing the motor - you have to fit it the same way as original or you end up with them out of sync

Thanks Lads for your assistance problem solved,after replacing the motor again and problem still there.I thought about the motor and the only thing you can put back the wrong way round is the motor housing so i removed the 2 retaining bolts and carefully slid it around as not to lift it and disengage the 2 brushes re-bolted the housing,switch on lights and job completed.Thanks once again lads you where a great help.
